ISHIN is a Japanese restaurant serving genuine Japanese and Kaiseki style cuisines that are cooked to order. Its
a friendly place that harbors no pretensions of striving to satisfy
patrons with anything but freshly assembled soul food as they prepare their meals using only the finest and freshest ingredients imported directly from Japan's famous Tsukiji market.
Ishin Japanese Dining Restaurant
Me
and my friends paid a visit to the restaurant on the 2nd of March 2014
to complete a Food & Services Review assignment. The design of the
Ishin Japanese Dining Restaurant closely resembles a
'Bangalow-Restaurant' concept and it is located along Old Klang Road.
The picture above shows the exterior view of the restaurant in all of
its brightly-lit glory.
The
picture above clearly shows the interior design of the restaurant. The
serene, soothing environment paired together with its beautiful interior
design gives this restaurant a very classy feel. The restaurant's
cleanliness is also top notch as the floors and tables are literally
spotless. These factors truly made us feel like we're fine dining in
Japan itself.
Of course, good looks doesn't make a restaurant good. On to the most important factor: its food
The appetizers shown above do look extremely tempting. However its very disappointing for us to note that the Gyoza doesn't taste as good as it looks.
Tori Katsu Don, which is a rice dish served with deep
fried chicken topped with an onion, egg and special sauce combo. The
sweetness of the onion and egg is really a perfect combination as its
flavour truly compliments the rice making the it flavorful. The same can
be said for the chicken which is tender and juicy. A pleasant dish
indeed!
Ishin offers a wide range of bento-style set meals that makes for pretty good dinner option. Sean had the Teppanyaki Beef Course (RM 55),
which is a petite serving of Japanese Fried Rice with miso soup, salad
and fruits. The tender-looking beef serving was just too tempting for me
that I had to have a bite before taking a picture.
Japanese Omu Rice.
This dish reminds us of the local Malaysian Nasi Pattaya. However, what
sets them both apart is the extremely pleasant smell of the Japanese
style fried rice which gets better as you tear open the omelette. A
plain-looking dish overall complete with a killer taste. Splendid!
One of the dishes here that caught our eye was the 3 Taste Mini Chawanmushi @ RM 18. Instead of being served in conventional cups, the chawanmushis are steamed in eggshells and topped with three different ingredients: prawn roes, caviar and uni – hence the 3 tastes. However, the novelty of the dish couldn’t save it from being just a normal tasting chawanmushi
The
appetising appearance of the succulent seafood of this dish is certainly
a pleasure for the eyes and very much mouthwatering to look at.
We simply couldn’t take our eyes off this particular Japanese dessert called Monaka
@ RM15, made out of green tea
ice cream sandwiched in between two thin, crisp wafers. The sweet
tasting red beans and refreshing strawberry provided the dish with its
much desired flavors.
Ice Cream Pancake @ RM16.00 |
The overall
service is pretty decent as most waitresses were very friendly.
However, one major downside of this restaurant would the the prices of
the food, a little too pricy for an average consumer. I would only pay a
return visit during special occasion.
